Incumbent NDP wins Courtenay-Alberni riding in federal election

Gord Johns will head back to Ottawa as the member of parliament for Courtenay-Alberni.

NDP incumbent Johns won the riding with 27,109 votes, Conservative Mary Lee placed second with 19,696, with 268 of 269 polls reporting.

The Liberals’ Susan Farlinger received 8,162 votes, followed by Green Party candidate Susanne Lawson with 3,433, People’s Party candidate Robert Eppich with 3,258 and Marxist-Leninist candidate Barbara Biley with 118.

Nationally, the Liberal Party won a minority government, currently leading or elected in 158 ridings.
