East Vancouver Island could receive as much as 30–50 mm of rainfall tomorrow (Sept. 17), prompting a special weather statement from Environment Canada.

The precipitation is forecast to begin Thursday overnight and will intensify during the day on Friday, easing off in the evening, according to Environment Canada. Strong winds are also forecast.

A robust, frontal system will cross the B.C. south coast, affecting Metro Vancouver, Fraser Valley, Howe Sound, the Sunshine Coast and east Vancouver Island

Environment Canada suggests clearing leaves and debris from drainage areas, as the heavy rain could cause local flooding.
