A cyclist was transported to hospital with minor, non-life-threatening injuries as a precaution after being struck by a vehicle on the Alberni Highway near Bellevue Road around 1:20 p.m. on Sept. 15.
Police said the cyclist was riding with traffic in the westbound lane when she abruptly attempted to cross the highway and was hit by a vehicle also travelling westbound.
“The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and cooperated with police. Drugs, alcohol and speed are not factors in the crash,” said Sgt. Stephen Rose of the Oceanside RCMP. Both the cyclist and driver are Oceanside residents, he added.
RCMP continue to investigate and charges under the Motor Vehicle Act are being considered, Rose said.
