Pheasant Glen Golf Resort and Special Olympics Oceanside are celebrating a decade in partnership with this year’s charity golf tournament taking place at Pheasant Glen on Sept. 11.
“Our charity golf tournament is our only local fundraising event each year and its growing success, in both numbers and fundraising over the last few years, has allowed us to provide access to multiple sport opportunities to all of our athletes,” said Barbara McLeod, program coordinator for Special Olympics Oceanside.
“We are grateful that our Special Olympics golf team has access to the wonderful golf course practice facilities,” she added.
The tournament will feature the Qualicum Beach Pipe Band who are set to kick off the event. Team spots are now all filled, but sponsorships and donations are still welcome, according to a media release from the resort.
“The partnership between Pheasant Glen and Special Olympics Oceanside is a long-standing collaboration with many positive outcomes and athletic achievements for local residents with special needs, and it’s been a pleasure to host this event each year,” said Gord Melissa, Pheasant Glen general manager.
In operation since 1987, Special Olympics Oceanside encompasses the communities of Nanoose, Parksville, Coombs, Errington, Qualicum Beach and Bowser.
