Parksville man flees scene after single vehicle collision leaves one in hospital

A 21 year-old Parksville man faces several charges after fleeing the scene of a single vehicle accident that left one man in hospital yesterday (Sept. 8).

Oceanside RCMP were called to the collision near the intersection of Wembley Road and Reid Road shortly after 4 p.m., according to Sgt. Stephen Rose.

The 28 year-old passenger was airlifted by ambulance and remains in critical, but stable condition, according to Rose. Parksville Volunteer Fire Department established a landing zone for the helicopter in front of Oceanside Elementary School.

The driver will make an appearance in court today (Sept. 9), according to RCMP.

Rose said the events leading up to the collision remain under investigation at this time.  

If anyone that has not spoken to police witnessed the incident or has video of the man fleeing from the scene, they are asked to contact the Oceanside RCMP at 250-248-6111.
