Parksville residents will have an opportunity to ask questions, provide feedback and share ideas about the proposed Parksville Aquatic and Recreation Centre during a virtual public meeting this month.
The HDR public engagement team will host the session via Zoom on Sept. 29 from 6–7 p.m., according to a media release from the city. The project team will provide a brief history of the project, an overview of studies conducted to date and describe the status of the proposed aquatic and recreation centre or multiplex.
“Consultation will help gauge the community’s interest in a new facility, identify potential programs and amenities and help determine a suitable site for the multiplex,” reads the release.
Residents wishing to participate can RSVP to hdr@parksville.ca. Confirmation and Zoom instructions will be emailed a few days before the event, the city said. The meeting will be a closed event, but participants’ screen names will be visible to other attendees.
In-person workshops are scheduled for Oct. 27, should it be safe to do so, the city said. The workshops will allow community input on the amenities, programs and location of the proposed facility. One workshop will be held in the afternoon and another in the evening. The city said more details will be provided in early October.
