Parksville Volunteer Fire Department (PVFD) will hold two more popup water parks this month.
Kids, families and the young at heart are invited to join PVFD members at Parksville Community Park, near the Lions Splash Park for the Ultimate Water Fight Challenge on Aug. 20 from 6–8 p.m.
Popup water parks are a chance for residents and visitors to check out the fire engines and equipment, learn about fire safety and talk to members about what it means to be a volunteer firefighter.
“Parksville Fire challenges kids and parents to a fun water fight. You are encouraged to come prepared to take on firefighters with your squirt guns and water toys. You won’t want to miss this one, a chance to soak your local firefighters,” reads a media release from the city.
One lane of traffic will be closed near the crosswalk on Salish Sea Drive, according to the city.
A third popup water park will be held at Shelly Creek Park (497 Corfield Street South) on Aug. 27 from 6–8 p.m.
“Enjoy an opportunity to cool off by running through spray from a ladder truck which creates something like a big rain shower, as well as other fire hose appliances,” reads the release.
Corfield Street between Hamilton Avenue and Trill Drive will be blocked off for the event, the city said.
