The Parksville Volunteer Fire Department invites kids, families and the young at heart to a popup water park on August 13. The event will run from 6–8 p.m. at Foster Park, located at the corner of Sanderson Road and Pym Street.

“Join our firefighters and enjoy an opportunity to cool off by running through a misting spray from an aerial ladder truck and other fire hose appliances,” reads a media release from the City of Parksville.

Popup or instant water parks are a chance for residents and visitors to check out the fire engines and equipment, learn about fire safety and talk to members about what it means to be a volunteer firefighter, the city said.

The fire department members look forward to the opportunity to engage with the community and share in the fun. A second popup water park is tentatively scheduled for Aug. 20 with more details to come soon, according to the city.
