The St. Andrews Lodge Historical and Cultural Society will hold a fundraising yard sale at the lodge on Aug. 14.
The money raised will go towards restoration of the historic building, which served as a popular vacation destination starting in 1938, according to Shirley Culpin, the society’s media relations person.
Donations of clean, gently used items (except clothing) can be dropped off at the lodge (3319 Island Highway West) between 3 – 7 p.m. on Aug. 12 and from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Aug. 13. Clothing cannot be accepted because of COVID restrictions, according to a media release from the society.
The yard sale will run from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Aug. 14.
“There will be treasures galore — furniture, housewares, tools, games, books, fishing gear — to name a few,” reads the release. “Plan to attend the sale and explore the pretty waterfront park and beach that adjoins the lodge for a happy, inspirational day out.”
The society signed a lease agreement with the Town of Qualicum Beach in June, about eight months after intervening to prevent the lodge’s demolition.
