Vandals burn portable toilet, dumpster found smouldering —Oceanside Crime Report July 18–24

During this time period the Oceanside RCMP said it received 308 complaints.  

Vandalism

A vehicle was reported vandalized in the 700 block of Ironwood Avenue, Parksville, on July 18.

-A vehicle back window was reported smashed in the 100 block of Island Highway West, Parksville, on July 18.

-A portable toilet was reported to have been set on fire in the 100 block of Island Highway East, Parksville on July 23.

-A dumpster was found smouldering in the 100 block of Island Highway West, Parksville, on July 20.

-A man was reported to have damaged security equipment at a public works compound in the 1200 block of Chattel Road, Parksville on July 20.

-A vehicle window was reported smashed in the 400 block of Stanford Avenue East, Parksville on July 21.

Found

-A white Specialized bicycle was found in the area of Bennett Road and View Road, Qualicum Beach, on July 18. Contact Oceanside RCMP during regular business hours to claim.

-A glove containing jewelry was found in the 200 block of McVickers Street, Parksville, on June 19. Contact Oceanside RCMP during regular business hours to claim.

-An iPhone was found in the Columbia Beach area of Parksville, on July 19. Contact Oceanside RCMP during regular business hours to claim.

-An older red road bike and a black & blue mountain bike were found in the 400 block of Bay Avenue, Parksville, on July 22. Contact Oceanside RCMP during regular business hours to claim.

Theft

-Alberta licence plate BXM0581 was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 100 block of Beachside Drive, Parksville, on July 18.

-Private property signs were reported stolen from a property in the 800 block of Drew Road, Parksville, on July 18.

-A blue Norco Touring Bike was reported stolen in the 1100 block of Resort Drive, Parksville, on July 18.

-A parcel dropped off by a courier was reported stolen in the 1900 block of Eagle Ridge Place, Nanoose Bay, on July 19.

-A camp stove, solar panel and battery packs were some of the items reported stolen from a vehicle in the 1300 block of Alberni Highway, Parksville on July 20.

-An air compressor was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 1600 block of Acadia Road, Nanoose Bay, on July 21.

-Two Scotty downriggers were reported stolen from a property in the 1600 block of Grafton Avenue, Errington, on July 21.

-A BC 2021 validation sticker was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 100 block of Island Highway East, Parksville, on July 22.

Prowler 

-A nighttime prowler was reported in the 500 block of Sycamore Drive, Qualicum Beach, on July 18.

Break and Enter

-A shed break and enter was reported in the 100 block of Mills Street, Parksville on July 21. An older Norco mountain bike was noted missing.

-An attempted break and enter of a storage container was reported in the 100 block of Pym Street North, Parksville on July 22. The lock was noted damaged.
