A Parksville woman opened her laptop Sunday morning to check her ticket to discover she had won a $3 million lottery prize.

Frances Lloyd matched all six numbers and will split $6 million with another winner in Atlantic Canada, according to a media release from British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC).

“I have always dreamt of winning. This is my big pot,” said Lloyd, who immediately phoned her daughter to tell her the good news. “I don’t quite believe it yet. It’s a big thing to win.”

She purchased her ticket at the Shoppers Drug Mart on East Island Highway in Parksville and celebrated with dinner and champagne toasts with her family. Lloyd said she plans to purchase a new home and gift some of her prize to her family.

So far in 2021, B.C. lottery players have redeemed over $53 million in winnings from Lotto 6/49, according to BCLC.
