No injuries were reported after five fire departments responded to a commercial building fire in Coombs yesterday (July 16). The Coombs-Hilliers Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene in the 900 block of Virginia Road at 2:53 p.m., according to Lieutenant Theresa Benoit.

“The fire was contained to the one building, but there was significant damage to the main part of the involved structure,” said Benoit.

The first fire crews on scene were able to quickly contain the fire and limit damage to the rest of the structure, she added.

The Qualicum Beach, Dashwood, Errington and Parksville fire departments also responded to the incident, along with BCEHS, BC Hydro and RCMP.
