Qualicum Beach town employee puts out grassfire near Memorial Avenue roundabout

Latest Oceanside News

Fire crews responded to a small grassfire in Qualicum Beach between the Memorial Avenue roundabout and Highway 19 yesterday (July 8).

When firefighters arrived at about 2:40 p.m., a town employee had knocked down the fire with a fire extinguisher, according to Fire Chief Peter Cornell. Fire crews then used a hose line to wet the area down and put out the remaining hot spots, he added.

The cause of the fire is undetermined, Cornell said.
