The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) will have a new chief administrative officer (CAO) starting Aug. 23.
Douglas Holmes was selected by the board of directors after a cross-Canada search and brings over 25 years of experience in the public sector, including his current role as CAO with the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District, the RDN said in a media release.
“He brings a strong financial background, extensive public sector experience and comprehensive knowledge of the regional district and the central Vancouver Island area to our senior leadership team. We look forward to working with Mr. Holmes on our strategic priorities and charting a livable and environmentally sustainable path for the region,” said Tyler Brown, RDN chair.
Holmes is a chartered professional accountant and holds a bachelor of business administration from Simon Fraser University.
“I am looking forward to bringing my skills and experience to the Regional District of Nanaimo and working with both the board and staff to achieve our strategic and operational goals,” Holmes said.
“As a long-time resident of Nanaimo, I am familiar with both the opportunities and challenges we face as a region and appreciate the opportunity to help shape the future of the RDN.”
