Parksville crews busy with summer planting

The City of Parksville plants and maintains a variety of flowerbeds, planters and hanging baskets throughout the summer and said it has planted 15,419 annual bedding plants this year.

Parks crews are busy at this time of the year with plantings and general cleanup, according to the city.

“The city has planted millions of bulbs and flowers to beautify our streets, public facilities, parks and open spaces,” said Deb Tardiff, communications manager, in a news release. “Most of the annuals planted are begonias, marigolds, zinnias and salvia.”

This year the city has planted:

  • -15,419 annual bedding plants.
  • -14 annual beds throughout city with features in the Parksville Community Park, at -Pym Street and the Highway 19A, as well as downtown.
  • -21 planters on Craig, McCarter, Alberni, Morrison, Parksville Community Park, and the city’s operations yard.
  • -117 hanging baskets.

The city said it would like to see residents sharing photos of the features on social media and tagging @City_Parksville or #parksvillepics.
