Two people are in hospital following a serious vehicle accident on Highway 4 near Hilliers Sunday evening.
A male motorcyclist heading westbound collided with a car attempting to turn left onto the highway from Jones Road, according to Const. Doug Pennington from the Vancouver Island Highway Patrol unit of the RCMP.
“It would appear that the car pulled out right in front of him,” said Pennington.
He said the man was airlifted to a Victoria hospital with serious injuries. The woman was extracted from her vehicle and transported to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, Pennington said.
“The female driver was conscious [and] breathing. I don’t know the extent of her injuries but they weren’t life threatening,” he said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, according to Pennington.
