Parksville city crews will begin work on installing a four-way stop at the corner of  Despard Avenue and Moilliet Street on May 5.

Work is expected to take three days, according to Deb Tardiff, communications manager for the city.

Traffic flow will change for both vehicles and pedestrians. Tardiff said signs will be installed at the intersection indicating the new traffic pattern.

“We ask for the patience of the public and for the public’s safety, the instructions provided by the traffic control people must be obeyed,” Tardiff said in a news release.

While the work is underway, traffic will be controlled in all directions for both vehicles and pedestrians and the city said to expect alternating single-lane usage.

The installation of the four-way stop was directed by council through a resolution approved on April 7.

City staff will monitor the four-way stop over the next six months and provide a report to council in the fall.
