Island Health has declared the COVID-19 outbreak over at Longlake Chateau independent living facility in Nanaimo.

The outbreak was declared on March 25 after five residents tested positive for the virus. Follow-up testing identified another three cases in residents.

“The team at Longlake is to be commended for their exceptional work ensuring the outbreak did not spread further and continuing to provide high-quality care under challenging circumstances,” reads a release from Island Health.

Social visits, admissions and transfers will resume at the facility, as will group dining, with COVID-19 safety protocols in place.
