School District 69 said it has learned of a COVID-19 exposure in an individual at Ballenas Secondary School. The potential exposure dates are March 31 and April 1, according to a release from the school district. It did not say if the person was a student or staff member.

Public health staff are completing contact tracing to identify any individuals needing to self-isolate and self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms, the release said.

A general notification to the school community was issued on the evening of April 6.

Anyone who has not received a phone call from Island Health (or a letter from Island Health as sent by the school), can continue to attend school and monitor for COVID-19 symptoms.
