Island Health reports 60 new COVID-19 cases

Island Health reported 60 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours — there are now 392 active cases in the region. Of these, 171 are in the central island, 189 are in the south and 32 are in the north, according to the health authority’s website.

There are 13 people hospitalized, with two in critical care in Island Health, according to the B.C. government’s COVID-19 dashboard. No new deaths were reported and there were 1,267 tests done in the health region over the past day.

Across the province there are now 7,571 active cases — there were 832 new cases reported today. Of these, 296 people are hospitalized, 79 of whom are in critical care. Five more people have died from COVID-19.

The province processed 9,880 tests for the virus in the past 24 hours, according to its dashboard. 

Across B.C., 756,080 doses of vaccine have been administered and 981,060 have been distributed.
