Nanaimo RCMP recently obtained a photo of a person who may have been involved in a groping incident last month at Woodgrove Centre.

Police investigated an incident around 4:45 p.m. on Feb. 20 where a woman was groped by a stranger in the mall parking lot, near the bus loop.

The woman told police a man approached her from behind as she was standing beside her car and groped her. In a state of disbelief and shock, she yelled several obscenities at the man and watched as he walked off in the direction of the bus loop, according to RCMP.

Police said the man is believed to be either Indigenous or Hispanic, between 25 and 30 years old and about 5 ft. 7 – 5 ft. 10 tall. At the time he was wearing camouflage pants, a dark coloured North Face hoodie and a camouflage mask.

Anyone with information on the identity of the man can call the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345 and quote file # 2021-6304.
