The Mount Arrowsmith Biosphere Region (MABR) will hold its first ever Biosphere-wide Blitz event, which will give Oceanside residents a chance to submit nature observations for prizes.

The event will run from April 16 – 18 and is a modified version of MABR’s annual BioBlitz. Participants from Nanoose Bay to Qualicum Bay will use the iNaturalist app to log their observations of plants, animals, fungus and tracks.

“We will be issuing a first place prize at the end of each of the three days for those who submit the highest number of observations,” wrote Mandy Hobkirk, coordinator, on MABR’s website.

Participants are asked to sign up for an iNaturalist account and join the project “MABR Biosphere Blitz.” Prizes include identification books on birds, flora, mushrooms and fungus.

More information on the event can be found at MABR’s website.
