Oceanside RCMP are looking for witnesses after a stabbing in Parksville on March 7.

Police received a call around 1:30 a.m. from the BC Ambulance Service (BCAS) who said it was attending to a 39-year-old man who had been stabbed, according to RCMP.

When police arrived to the scene in the 900 block of Fairdowne Road, the original caller had fled because of outstanding warrants and the victim “was not forthcoming with the police,” according to Cpl. Jesse Foreman.

RCMP said officers learned the victim allegedly had a physical altercation with two unknown males and was stabbed multiple times in the lower back.

Police followed up with the victim in hospital where he is recovering, but he was still not cooperative with the investigators. RCMP said it does not believe this was a random incident.
