Second confirmed COVID-19 case at Oceanside Elementary School

School District 69 said it has learned of a second confirmed COVID-19 case at Oceanside Elementary School. The school district said it learned of the exposure the morning of March 5, but did not say if the case was in a student or staff member. The exposure date is March 1, according to the news release. 

Island Health staff have initiated contact tracing to identify individuals needing to self-isolate or self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms. 

All contact tracing is expected to be concluded by the end of the day March 5 and all members of the school community will have received direct communication from the school. 

The school district learned of Oceanside Elementary’s first confirmed COVID-19 case on March 2.

Anyone who has not received a phone call from public health officials is advised by the school district to continue to attend school and monitor for COVID-19 symptoms as per BC CDC guidelines.

The school district said it cannot provide further details because of privacy reasons.
