Island Health reports 20 new COVID-19 cases

Island Health

There are 153 active COVID-19 cases in the Island Health region, including 20 reported in the last 24 hours. That number includes 97 in the central island region, down one since yesterday, along with 44 in the south and 12 in the north. No additional deaths were reported.

Eighteen people are hospitalized with the virus and seven are in ICU, according to the B.C. government’s COVID-19 dashboard. 

There were 1,151 COVID-19 tests completed in the past 24 hours.


B.C. recorded 617 new COVID-19 cases and four deaths over the past 24 hours. There are 4,348 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, including 224 people in hospital and 60 in critical care.

The province has administered 180,691 doses of COVID-19 vaccine, including 29,952 second doses, according to a joint statement by Dr. Bonnie Henry and Adrian Dix, minister of health.

There are 7,440 people under active public health monitoring as a result of exposure to the virus, according to Henry.
