Comox Valley RCMP is asking residents to report suspicious activity after an 11-year-old boy was followed by a man on Hornby Island.

Police said the boy was walking from Tribune Bay Outdoor Education Centre toward St. John Point around 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 16 when he noticed a red or brown truck appeared to be following him.

The boy started walking on a path away from the road — the truck driver parked and began walking down the path for about 100 yards until the boy started to run, according to RCMP.

The man was described as a White male, 35-40 years old with stubble on his face and wearing baggy clothing. The truck appeared to be an older model Toyota pickup with rust along the wheel wells, police said.

RCMP asks residents to report any suspicious activities immediately. Anyone with information can contact the Comox Valley RCMP at (250) 338-1321 and refer to file 2021-2439.

Anonymous tips can be provided to Comox Valley Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at comoxvalleycrimestoppers.bc.ca
