Parksville residents can expect discolouration and intermittent drops in water pressure this month when the city begins its annual water main flushing program.
The program will begin Feb. 15 and run until the first week in April, according to the city. Flushing will generally take place between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.
“Flushing is an important part of our ongoing maintenance program to ensure the integrity of the water supply system,” said Deb Tardiff, manager of communications for the city in a news release.
The city said residents should keep a fresh supply of drinking water during this time and check for discolouration before doing laundry. If water is discoloured after flushing is done for the day, the city said to run an outside tap until the colour clears.
