School District 69 said it has learned of a confirmed case of COVID-19 at Ballenas Secondary School.

A release from the school district did not specify if the individual is a student or staff member, but said the dates of exposures were on Jan. 22 and the morning of Jan. 25.

Island Health has started contact tracing to identify people who need to self-isolate or monitor for COVID-19 symptoms. It expects to be finished contact tracing by the end of today (Jan. 27).

Anyone who has not received a phone call form public health officials is advised to continue to attend school and monitor themselves for symptoms, the release said.
