Island Health reports 13 new cases of COVID-19

Island Health reported 13 new cases of COVID-19 today. There are now 194 active cases, according to the health authority’s website. Of these, 152 are in the central island, while 21 are in the south and 21 in the north.

There are currently 11 people hospitalized in the health region, six of whom are in intensive care, according to the B.C. government COVID-19 dashboard.

Across the province there were 508 new cases of COVID-19 reported today — there are now 4,479 active cases, according to a joint statement from Dr. Bonnie Henry, provincial health officer and Adrian Dix, minister of health.

There are currently 315 people hospitalized with the virus, 74 of whom are in critical care — nine deaths were reported today.

To date, 110,566 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in B.C. — 2,202 of these were second doses, according to the statement.

There are currently 6,719 people under public health monitoring and 56,455 people have been infected and recovered from the virus.
