Island Health reports 30 new COVID-19 cases

There are 134 active cases of COVID-19 in central Vancouver Island. Island Health reported 30 new cases in the past 24 hours and now has a total of 187 active cases — 29 are in the south and 24 are in the north.

There are 14 people hospitalized in the region, five of whom are in critical care, according to the B.C government’s COVID-19 dashboard.

Across the province 465 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the past 24 hours and 12 additional deaths. 

There are now 4,331 active cases in B.C. — of these, 329 are hospitalized, 70 of whom are in ICU, according to a joint statement from Dr. Bonnie Henry, provincial health officer and Adrian Dix, minister of health.

To date, 92,369 doses of vaccine have been administered in the province, the statement said.
