B.C. homeowners can no longer apply for the province’s homeowner grant through municipal offices and instead are asked to use the new online system. The grant is available to eligible homeowners who pay property taxes.

The province said the new system is designed to speed up the process and reduce fraudulent applications, as well as help seniors and people with disabilities receive their additional grants.

Program details and eligibility requirements have not changed. The system is not yet accessible, but will be available early this year, according to the provincial government.

The province is not accepting early applications. For more information about the home owner grant visit gov.bc.ca/homeownergrant.
