A 22-year-old woman was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle, according to Nanaimo RCMP.
The woman was jogging along Departure Bay Road on Jan. 11 and was crossing Estevan Road when she was struck by a vehicle trying to turn left, investigators were told.
The victim sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.
The driver, 43-years-old, was ticketed for driving without a valid B.C. driver’s license and the vehicle was towed from the scene, RCMP said.
The victim was not at a crosswalk at the time of the collision. Alcohol and drugs have been ruled out on part of the driver and victim.
Police said they believe weather, road conditions, visibility and actions of the driver and the victim contributed to the collision.
