The Nanaimo RCMP is looking for witnesses to a collision that involved a motorized wheelchair and a vehicle.

A woman, who was operating a motorized wheelchair, was struck on Bowen road in front of Tim Horton’s around 11 a.m. on Dec. 31, according to Const. Gary O’Brien.

“While attempting to cross over the two northbound lanes, she was struck by a green Kia Soul driven by an adult male,” he said in a press release.

The 63-year-old victim was taken to Nanaimo hospital with serious injuries and received medial treatment, police said.

Any motorists who were in the vicinity of the collision that have dash cam footage or cell phone video, and have not already spoken with investigators, are asked to contact the Municipal Traffic Services of the Nanaimo RCMP Detachment at 250-754-2345 and quote file # 2020-46146.
