All long-term care home residents and staff who wanted to be vaccinated for COVID-19 have received their first dose, according to the province.
“We’re sending a clear message that as a region we want this, we need this. The effects of not having this in place spills out into all communities and I think we need to do better,” said Director Mark Swain.
“At this point, after hearing what I have heard and knowing what I know — I am not comfortable leaving it there,” said Mayor Brian Wiese.
“Many of the Bait bikes that are stolen are taken by individuals who are entrenched in the drug culture and property crime related thefts,” said Const. Gary O’Brien.
Police are asking for public assistance in locating a Nanaimo woman missing since Jan. 21.
The town said crews are removing benches, the flagpole and landscape elements to protect them during construction.
The Parksville Community Centre Society (PCCS) has disputed the city’s claim that it was wrong to remove kitchen equipment from the community centre.
The RDN said grantees will use the funding to target recycling of materials that are not part of a stewardship program or an established commercial market and would otherwise end up in the landfill.
Island Health now has 204 active cases of COVID-19, according to the health authority’s website.
