The provincial government has revealed the most popular baby names this year. Olivia was the name given to the most newborns in B.C. in both 2020 and 2019. It has been among the top names for eight of the past nine years, according to the Vital Statistics Agency.
The agency releases the most popular names every year from birth registrations. The list includes every given name that was chosen five or more times.
Liam, Oliver, Noah, Lucas, Emma, Theodore, Benjamin, Ethan and Charlotte followed Olivia for the most popular names, according to the agency’s preliminary figures from Jan. 2 – Dec. 17, 2020.
From Jan. 1 – Dec. 17, 2020, there were 39,322 babies born in the province.
