Parksville residents cannot attend city council meetings in person due to a provincial public health order restricting gatherings and events. The city said council meetings will continue to be live-streamed on YouTube and the meeting videos, minutes and agendas can be accessed on the city’s website.

“The health and safety of our residents is of prime importance and council encourages residents to reach out via email or phone and to stay informed through virtual means until we can safely resume in-person activities,” said Deb Tardiff, manager of communications for the city.

If the restrictions are still in place when council meetings resume on Jan. 18, the city said it will provide opportunities for residents to participate via written submissions, telephone and online. The city will provide more information about public participation when the meeting’s agenda is posted on Jan. 14.

Council voted on Dec. 7 to cancel its last meeting of the year, which was scheduled for Dec. 21.

The city said residents can contact council by emailing council@parksville.ca.
