After being arrested and released, ‘prolific nuisance offender’ breaches conditions in three separate incidents

Latest Oceanside News

Oceanside RCMP has arrested a man who has been the subject of numerous nuisance calls since August.

RCMP said Silas Jacob Janzen, 24, “displayed a total disregard for people, their property or their business.” Many dine and dash, property damage and petty theft calls were committed by a suspect with a similar description, police said.

An investigation by Oceanside RCMP, including surveillance footage, led police to Janzen, who was found to be responsible for over a dozen offences.

The man, who has no fixed address, was arrested on Dec. 10 and held for a bail hearing.

Within hours of being released, Janzen reoffended and breached conditions in three separate incidents, according to Cpl. Jesse Foreman. He was arrested again and is currently in custody with a bail hearing scheduled for Dec. 18.

“We would like to extend our thanks to all the people who took the time to call the Oceanside RCMP to report these offences and provide quality accounts of what had transpired. Working together we can hold people accountable for their actions,” said Foreman.
