Vancouver Island major crime unit still searching for witness in rural Qualicum Beach investigation

Latest Oceanside News

The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) is still looking to speak with a motorist who may be a witness in a rural Qualicum Beach investigation

The motorist picked up two people in a light coloured sedan on Nov.1 and may be unaware they are being sought by police, according RCMP.

VIIMCU, along with the BC Coroners Service, continue to investigate after three bodies were found in rural Qualicum Beach. During the initial examination of multiple burned structures, VIIMCU found human remains, along with the remains of four dogs.

“Fire scenes bring a variety of challenges and are complex scenes to process. Investigators must pore over the scene, meticulously search through debris piece by piece and then examine collected items using specialized techniques,” said Cpl. Chris Manseau, media relations officer for the BC RCMP.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed and RCMP said it continues working with the BC Coroners Services.

Anyone with information is asked to call the VIIMCU information line at 250-380-6211.
