A resident has tested positive for COVID-19 at Tsawaayuus Rainbow Gardens long-term care home in Port Alberni, according to Island Health.

The person tested positive on Nov. 18, two days after a staff member’s positive test prompted Island Health to declare an outbreak at the facility.

The resident is not experiencing symptoms, but was transferred out of the care home as a precaution, according to Island Health.

Three residents considered close contacts have been isolated in their rooms and the unit where they live has been isolated from the rest of the facility.

All of the facility’s 44 residents will be tested, along with all staff members. The residents of an adjacent assisted living facility will also be tested, according to Island Health.
