Oceanside RCMP have confirmed a man seen in the woods last week was not Jordan Jay Ward, who is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for two counts of manslaughter.

Police said a local man who had seen the press release contacted the detachment to say it was him in the woods on Oct. 23 and not Ward.

“The Oceanside RCMP would like to thank the general public for keeping a watchful eye out in our community,” said Corp. Jesse Foreman in a media release.

Ward has still not been located and is described as 20 year old Caucasian man, who is 5 foot 9 inches tall and 165 lbs. He has brown hair and hazel eyes and was believed to be in the Comox Valley area last week.

“Jordan Ward was allegedly seen on a rural logging road, possibly wearing army green hunting clothes and riding a dark coloured bicycle,” said Const. Monika Terragni in Comox Valley on Thursday.

Oceanside RCMP said the false alarm sighting was of a man dressed in all camouflage, carrying a rifle with a mountain bike.
